Mr. Mollinga is teaching grade 5 again this year. It will be his 21st year at Sunset Elementary School where he has taught almost every age group in one way or another. He very much enjoys both the school's atmosphere and the people of Port McNeill. On top of that, the view from his classroom is absolutely spectacular. People often wonder how students can concentrate when they have a view of mountains, waterways, towns, ships, planes and children playing on the playground.

Mr. Mollinga graduated from NISS (North Island Secondary School) in 1982 here in Port McNeill. After graduating from NISS, he attended both Vancouver Island University and Western Washington University for music and graduated from the Education Department at Simon Fraser University. Like all teachers, he has participated in many workshops and even gives his own on topics such as computer technology and web site designing.
In Mr. Mollinga's spare time (if there is such a thing for teachers) he freelances as a bass guitar player in a wide variety of music groups. Fortunately for Mr. Mollinga, he's had the opportunity to play in some wonderful places with many different professional musicians. He also plays the piano, acoustic guitar, and numerous other instruments. Included in the music field, he also copies out scores for musicians so they can read the music. Other interests include photography, web site designing, biking and traveling. Here's Mr. Mollinga Bungy Jumping on You Tube.
Here is an article from the Vancouver Sun about this web site: "Community Spirit"
and another one the North Island Gazette wrote: "Top of the Class in Web Site Design"
.
